Today, Billie Eilish is beginning the rollout for album number three with the news that Hit Me Hard and Soft, her follow-up to 2022’s Happier Than Ever, will be out May 17 via Darkroom/Interscope. Not much else has been announced at this point aside from the unsurprising FINNEAS production and co-writing credit (nepotism in this industry has truly gotten out of hand!), though a press release seems to emphasize that the record will be a cohesive statement rather than a collection of radio fodder, and intends to “journey through a vast and expansive audio landscape, immersing listeners into a full spectrum of emotions.”

Additionally, the press release mentions that Hit Me Hard and Soft will get a limited physical release using 100 percent recyclable materials so as to minimize waste. Read more about this sustainability effort on Eilish’s website, and see the album cover (which may or may not be an homage to Weyes Blood the week after Titanic Rising’s fifth anniversary) and official announcement via IG below.
