LA-based sort-of-hyperpop/sort-of-just-regular-pop duo Magdalena Bay have announced that their sophomore album, Imaginal Disk, will arrive on August 23 via their new label, Mom+Pop. Following the late-May release of the extraterrestrial single “Death & Romance,” we’re getting another taste of the new LP today with “Image.” The track features shuffling hi hats, bleeps and bloops that sound like they emanated from an alien spaceship, and slightly haunted vocals from Mica Tenenbaum. Bass slaps and snare smacks give the chorus a biting edge.
Regarding the track, the band shared: “Close your eyes. Imagine a brand new, better you. Now wait 22 minutes. Now open your eyes. Meet your brand new image! Isn’t it amazing that the meat in our heads can do this?” Totally.
