ICYMI, Doechii took home Best Rap Album at last night’s GRAMMYs for her debut mixtape for Capitol and TDE, Alligator Bites Never Heal (which we may or may not have called back in October, shortly after the tape’s release). And as powerful as the rapper’s actual acceptance speech was—opening by noting that she’s only the third woman to accept the award in its nearly 40 years of existence, and closing with a heartfelt message to Black women encouraging them to be the fourth—her new single “Nosebleeds” feels like the carefree afterparty, grafting a more shit-talking two minutes of shoutouts onto that speech over a hard-hitting beat. Yet another reason we’re glad she secured the award.
