Run the Jewels. Meow the Jewels. HEADER VERSION. cred Marc Lemoine.

They’ve been teasing it for a while now, but Friday night, on the second episode of their Beats 1 radio show, WRTJ,  Killer Mike and El-P of Run the Jewels finally shared the first full track from their joke-turned-full-on-remix-album Meow the Jewels.

“Meowrly”—a cat-tastic reimagining of RTJ2’s epic centerpiece “Early”—was, if I may, purrduced by Boots, who didn’t need to be renamed to fit the whole cat thing and whose vocals are featured on the original track. As promised, the remix has a whole meowthful of sampled feline sounds. Mixed in with the track’s intense, politically charged lyrics, all the mews and meows make for a pretty weird juxtaposition. But hey, as El-P said, #youaskedforit.
