Given his ongoing track record of new album after new album, Neil Young doesn’t seem like one particularly inclined to go on a journey through the past. But every once in a while, even those who insist on living in the now can indulge in looking back, which is exactly what will be happening at the upcoming Neil Fest in New York—a two-night, star-packed concert event celebrating Shakey’s life and music.
This is just the latest notch in the belt of the Best Fest series, who recently hosted Brian Fest for Brian Wilson and George Fest in honor of George Harrison. This time around, artists announced to perform their favorite Neil Young songs include Ryan Adams, Norah Jones, Body/Head, Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, Jakob Dylan, Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Charles Bradley, Sharon Van Etten, Adam Green, Elvis Perkins, Danny Masterson, Adam Busch, Michelle Branch, Donald Cumming, Valerie June, and many more. And as always, surprises are expected, and more performers are likely to join.
The whole shebang will go down on September 13 and 14 at the Bowery Ballroom, and proceeds will benefit the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 28, and can be bought here for night one, and here for night two.
Don’t wait winterlong.
