Time just has a habit of flying by, doesn't it? Though it's only been a year since My Morning Jacket released their tenth studio album, Is, frontman Jim James hasn't made a solo record since 2018's Uniform Distortion. Until now. The 48-year-old musician and three-time GRAMMY winner has announced that Wowed Out will be released on August 28 via ATO Records.

With the announcement comes the first taste of the full-length in the form of "Come Again," a trippy and comforting blast of warm golden light accompanied by a suitably psychedelic video. And while it might not sound like it, the song is apparently a reaction to the state of the world.

"'Come Again' came from feeling discouraged by how much things are changing in directions I don't agree with, but trying to remember that there's still so much beauty to be experienced," the musician said in a statement. "You've got to just keep going and keep trying again and again and again to find joy."

That search for joy in defiance of, well, everything is captured perfectly in both the song itself and its video, which can be seen below.

James will perform in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl on July 10, 11, and 12 as part of an all-star concert billed as "Music From The Films Of Wes Anderson," which will also feature Beck, Jackson Browne, Bill Murray, Britt Daniel, and others.
