Back in April, Beck released his first new original song, "Ride Lonesome," since 2019. A lilting, melancholic countrified ballad, it was full of heartache and longing, recalling his earlier Sea Change era.
Now, he's putting out a reworked version featuring Nashville-based bluegrass/folk musician Sierra Ferrell, whose heart-torn vocals add an extra layer of feeling to the song. Before, it was melancholy and maudlin. Now, it's still melancholy and maudlin, but it feels more cinematic and even more timeless.
Beck will embark on a tour named after the song this fall. The dates begin September 16 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, BC, and end on Halloween at The Truth in Nashville. Support on all dates will come from Diana Silvers. You can see the full list of dates and buy tickets here.
