Beck has revealed that his forthcoming Ride Lonesome LP will arrive on September 18 via Capitol Records. The artist’s 15th album was recorded at his favorite spot, Room B at United Studios in Hollywood, with his studio band he worked with on Mutations, Sea Change, and Morning Phase: Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., and Jason Falkner.
“We had Nigel Godrich, who worked on Sea Change and Mutations with us mixing all the songs,” he explained. “It had been a decade since we went in the studio and recorded Morning Phase. This time It felt like the playing and the chemistry had evolved and deepened—a sound that’s come together over the decades of working together. While we were revisiting a musical and physical place, it also felt like we were finding new sounds and emotional textures along the way.”
New single “In the Night” follows the title track, which arrived last month, and its music video stars legendary French actor Denis Lavant (Holy Motors, Beau Travail). Check out the video for “In the Night” below, and pre-order Ride Lonesome here.
