2015. Father John Misty, “Night Josh Tillman…” video

“It has been an honor to explore the palpable sexual chemistry that exists between Josh Tillman and himself,” says Drew Pearce within a press release about his brand-new music video for Father John Misty‘s “The Night Josh Tillman Came to Our Apartment” video. “I hope this video does their enduring love affair justice.”

Pearce, who cowrote Iron Man 3 and created the story for Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation, not only does Tillman’s affair with himself justice, he helps the rest of us mere mortals visualize that burning desire and admiration. Two Tillmans walk into a bar—one with a jaunty hat, one with a cut hand—and connect with each other on a deep level. Both walk out of the bar and into each other’s arms in the hills of Los Angeles. Night swimming, wine drinking, and copious amounts of cocaine fuel the sexually charged night.

Tillman recently shed some light on the spark that created the touching and strange video:

This video is partially inspired by the LeBron James quote “It is precisely the superficial differences between people who are otherwise alike that inform the hostilities between them.” Special thanks to my body double Tyler who I had to kiss no fewer than two dozen times and whose breath I can still smell in my mind’s eye.

Good job, Tyler. Watch the full fantasy below.
