Nearly four years into shaping an audience around their contemporary take on grungey alt-rock, LA’s wilt will release their debut album this fall. They’ve announced today that When No One’s Watching will arrive on October 2 via AWAL, with recent singles “Bundy” and “Nothing Good to Cry About” materializing on the 11-song track list. “For all of us, and especially [vocalist Chelsea Rifkin], it’s what it feels like when no one’s watching and you’re still struggling mentally and emotionally with everything,” guitarist Andy Vance shared of the album’s title. “Even as our career has continued to grow and go in a great direction, that’s where the title comes from. It’s that contrast: ‘Stuff is great, but how do I feel when I’m alone?’”
Additionally, the band is sharing a third single from the record today—which, like its predecessors, was produced by Paramore collaborator Carlos De La Garza—that leans into a more experimental lane. Of the album opener “Dent,” the band shares that it’s “by far the most unique song we’ve ever written—an unusual structure, a time signature change, a crazy outro—and yet it’s the most wilt thing we’ve ever made. Carlos De La Garza’s production made it as loud and massive as it deserved. It’s short, but it feels like our sonic thesis statement—which is exactly why we put it at the front of the album.”
