Yesterday was Dolly Parton’s seventieth birthday, and though it’s been a long time since anyone has arrived kicking nearly as much country ass as her, Margot Price is certainly vying for a role in carrying on that legacy (listen to “About to Find Out” if you still need convincing). It was only fitting, then, that Price and her band were the musical guest on Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night to perform “Hurtin’ (0n the Bottle),” the lead single from Price’s upcoming debut, Midwest Farmer’s Daughter—one of our most anticipated albums of the year. Don’t miss that solo section in the middle. Goddamn.

The full LP, which comes out March 25, is being released—and championed—by Jack White and his Third Man Records. As Price told Rolling Stone, “They were the first people who didn’t want to change the album, and didn’t want to scam me for any money.” Sigh. Nice work, Jack.
