We’re just over a month out from the release of Kaley Honeycutt’s second album as Honey Cutt, Coasting, and what better way to prepare for the occasion than hear a sneak preview of the album’s title track. After sharing “Suburban Dream” last summer, and announcing the record with “Vacation” in January, “Coasting” builds upon the dreamy quality of the former rather than the surfy energy of the latter.

In spite of the persistence alluded to in the title, “Coasting” deals with some heavy subject matter, specifically with maintaining composure in front of loved ones when everything seems helpless. “‘Coasting’ is about trying to hold it together and be strong for my family,” Honeycutt explains. “I think that sometimes there is strength in just surviving. Seeing my mother get us through the things that she did when I was younger really made me who I am today.”

Along with the new single, Honey Cutt is announcing a string of U.S. tour dates, which are listed below the stream. You can pre-order Coasting here.
