Tomer Katz closed out 2019 by sharing the wonky neo-soul/delta blues cut “Safe to Disconnect,” which also happens to be the name of his debut record he’s releasing in October under the moniker D Fine Us. To follow that single up, the Tel Aviv–based producer is sharing “The Fox” today, which continues his quest to blend disparate musical ideas into something as cohesive as it is catchy.
This time with rapper (and fellow Tel Aviv native) Noga Erez and blues singer Terry “Big T” Williams on the track, Katz is well aided in his effort to create something wholly unique. “The song was inspired by The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night, a story about a fox that was sent on a quest by his family, running into the woods,” he shares of the track’s origins. “He’s trying his best to make them proud and bring it all back home.”
