Touring is back, but that doesn’t mean live streaming has fallen by the wayside—in fact it seems to be just the opposite. In addition to plenty of artists learning to balance live music and live streaming moving forward, we’re also seeing all new streaming projects, such as Splendour in the Grass’s newly unveiled Splendour XR “virtual music festival experience,” hitting your home screens on July 24 and 25.
Available both as a browser-accessible live stream and as a VR experience, the Australian festivals foray into virtual (and therefore globally accessible) fests will feature sets over the course of two days from Khalid, CHVRCHES, Denzel Curry, Band of Horses, Little Simz, Violent Soho, Phoebe Bridgers, Pink Sweat$, Pond, The Killers, Charli XCX, Grimes (or, as she’s billed, “Grimes Metaverse (Super Beta)”), The Avalanches, Of Monsters and Men, Kaytranada, Black Pumas, Jungle, King Gizzard, Holly Humberstone, and many more.
“Splendour has always offered patrons a deep programming experience with The Forum, Global Village, Little Splendour, and more on offer alongside our favorite artists,” Splendour in the Grass co-producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco shared in a statement. “We could not be more excited about Splendour XR and the opportunity to take the Splendour goodness online to our existing community and also to new audiences around the globe.”
Tickets are $20 per day, or $35 for the two-day package, and are available here. Check out the full lineup below.
