There was a bit of buzz in August when Amazon Web Services announced the first wave of artists to play their inaugural Vegas-set festival Intersect, boasting major names like Foo Fighters, Beck, Kacey Musgraves, Anderson .Paak, and more as acts in attendance. Well, today they let us know without a shadow of a doubt that they are absolutely not messing around, listing Weyes Blood, Japanese Breakfast, Snail Mail, JPEGMAFIA, and many more in the list of their second wave of performers.
Spanning just two days, December 6 and 7, at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, the event is billed as a celebration of “creativity, innovation, and community,” also promising cocktails, BBQ, and “a million square feet of games and activities, including a video arcade, post-apocalyptic dodgeball stadium, and mega-sized ball pit with over 200,000 balls; with everything taking place in a futuristic, custom-designed indoor/outdoor environment full of lasers, video screens, and immersive art and design”—which steals just a bit of the thunder from the A+ bill of chart-topping artists.
“We’ve built a pretty amazing and unusual live music experience at our annual AWS conference that attendees have loved,” says VP of Worldwide Marketing Ariel Kelman, “and with Intersect, we’re excited to extend this unique event into a two-day, public music festival.” With a two-hundred-thousand-ball ball pit soundtracked by the distant deconstructed club music of SOPHIE, “unusual” is just a bit of an understatement.
