Let’s be honest: We hold coffee shops in high esteem, but the reality frequently involves at least one guy loudly taking a work video call with no headphones, someone at the far corner table who, from where you’re stationed, sure looks like the person who ghosted you in 2018, and an indisputably cancelled songwriter blaring over the loudspeaker. There aren’t a whole lot of things that can brighten this scenario, yet one of them is South London rockers Bears in Trees, who dropped their most recent record everything else smiled back last month.

One of that album’s standout tracks, “Heaven Sent Is a Coffee Cup,” sees the collective at their most upbeat, with guitarist Nick Peters recalling that the track was inspired by meeting his partner for the first time at a party. “I wouldn’t meet her properly for another year and a half after that,” he notes, “so I guess it’s about that party more generally, too, because it’s the same party where someone started breaking down [bassist Iain Gillespie]’s garden fence to make a campfire.”

While the track doesn’t quite possess that level of chaos, its more-than-a-little-giddy demeanor lends itself to its newly unveiled visual, which chronicles the transformation of a busy coffee shop into an appealing party—whether it be a new love, a new favorite song, or just a really, very good cup of coffee that causes such an evolution.
