Art-rocker Aldous Harding released a fascinating album in 2019 called Designer. And though she’s kept mostly quiet for the past few years (with the exception of a track released last year titled “Old Peel”), she’s officially returned today with the announcement of her next album. The new single “Lawn” comes from the forthcoming Warm Chris, which is out March 25 via 4AD.

“Lawn” showcases Harding in a different vocal register than what we’re used to. As opposed to the smooth mid-range or brawny lower-range vocals, here, she’s nearly chirping. Her voice is a bit breathy, soaring like a whistle cascading through springtime air. The accompanying visual created by Harding and Martin Sagadin has a similar tranquil energy. It features Harding dressed as a lizard, chilling on some bark. That sounds nice.

Warm Chris finds the New Zealand musician working again with producer John Parish. Its 10 tracks were recorded at Rockfield Studios and feature work from a long list of collaborators, including Sleaford Mods’ Jason Williamson.
