It’s now been three years since Magdalena Bay rocked our planet with their debut full-length Mercurial World, and now it seems like they’re redirecting that power for the space beyond our terrestrial realm. The duo is back today with an epic new single called “Death & Romance” that swaps their synth-based compositions for a unique blend of piano rock, neo-psych, and baggy revivalism across its five minute runtime. Lyrically, the track explores the extraterrestrial: “Imagine rain pouring, streetlights glowing,” the band shared in a press statement. “You sit at home and wait for your alien boyfriend to pick you up in his UFO...but this time, he’s not coming.”

Paired with that cosmic bummer is some more uplifting news: Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin will be bringing the Mag Bay show on the road again this fall with a slate of North American shows announced from early September through early October, before heading overseas in November. Check out the new single below, and find those dates here.
