We recently dropped FLOOD 8, our latest print issue (can you believe it’s been four years since the first one??) featuring stories on the likes of Roy Choi, Courtney Barnett, Kate Berlant and John Early, Jack White, Andrew W.K., Gus Van Sant, and many more. To celebrate, we partnered with Salesforce for #MakeChange, a Trailblazer Series event featuring food superstar, chef, and restauranteur Roy Choi in conversation with Evan Kleiman, the host of KCRW‘s GOOD FOOD. Choi spoke about his mission of bringing healthy, affordable food to low-income areas of LA, though he started out a bit distracted by all the FLOOD 8 art on the walls, much of which featured his face (“It’s like an infinity mirror!” he said sheepishly).

The event kicked off at the FLOOD Gallery, and following Roy was our mag’s launch party, during which DJ Anthony Valadez spun some beats as people mingled both indoors and out. The whole thing was catered by Choi’s Kogi BBQ Truck and LocoL restaurant, with trucks parked outside serving delicious Korean tacos and grilled foldie sandwiches. Thanks to everyone who came by.
